At VAL, we aim to enhance our mature guests’ quality of life by allowing them to experience the world despite their mobility and/or other health issues. We provide exclusive 14-day small-group retreats to Bali, Indonesia, where our guests enjoy local cuisine, explore rich Balinese culture, and embark on wonderful adventure catered to their age group.
Our nurses accompany our guests during the whole trip, ensuring that any concerns are taken care of so our guests can relax and rejuvenate.
Be a caring and compassionate companion to our guests and assist in their daily activities such as hygiene and basic grooming, eating, going for excursions, shopping, etc.
Respond to and manage significant changes in our guests’ condition and or medical emergencies.
Safe keep drugs and narcotics and administer in compliance with all regulatory requirements and VAL policies and procedures.
Act as supervisor and coordinate emergency response when needed.
Respond to our guests and/or their families’ concerns and ensure appropriate action taken and/or concern communicated to VAL’s Chief Medical Officer.
Maintain guests’ health records by performing activities such as documenting nursing observations, telephone communications and care evaluations to ensure that guests’ records are current and complete.
Participate in quality improvement activities by gathering information, providing input in proposed policies and revisions of current policies.
Maintain safe working environment by following health and safety guidelines, ensuring equipment is in safe working condition, reporting unsafe, hazardous conditions and any concerns. Completes incident report as necessary and assists in investigation; and
Provide input to the manager and/or delegate regarding the identification and need for supplies and equipment.
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.
5-10 years of relevant experience in gerontological nursing including one (1) year of education and/or leadership experience.
Must have CRC (Criminal Record Check) in the Vulnerable sector . Must have First Aid and CPR certificates.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Nursing theory and evidence informed practice.
Knowledge of Health Care disciplines and their role in health care (physicians, pharmacists, etc.)
Ability to apply clinical knowledge in practice.
Ability to apply critical thinking skills, problem solving and effectively resolving conflict situations.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing . Ability to provide leadership and clinical guidance as necessary.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in a self directed manner Ability to operate related equipment – Pulse Oximeter, Inhalers, Epi Pen, etc. Must be adaptable and open to caring for multicultural backgrounds and varying belief systems Physical ability to perform duties of the position including but not limited to:
Walking 10 – 20 hrs companion care and support – Must be fit to perform duties that may require lifting up to 50 lb weight Must demonstrate self awareness of triggers that contribute to stress and have healthy ways of coping with such triggers Must demonstrate awareness of client vs. nurse relationships and boundaries
